"The purpose of a Catholic School Council is, through the active participation of parents, to improve pupil achievement and to enhance the accountability of the education system to parents".
St Gerard Catholic School Council By-Laws 2024 2025
Catholic School Councils promote the vision, values and sacramental life of Dufferin-Peel Catholic Schools. In addition, the School Council may advise the principal of the school on a vairety of matters that may include: the faith development of the school community, school budget priorities, extra-curricular activities and more. To serve on the Catholic School Council, a person must be a parent or legal guardian of a child in the school. Each September, a new council is elected. If you are interesested in participating in the next school council, please contact the principal for details. All parents are welcome to attend any council meeting whether you are a council member or not.

The Catholic School Council shall promote the vision, values and sacramental life of the Catholic practices of the Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board.
The Council shall promote, support and maintain a positive school environment for all students and staff; facilitate the active and meaningful participation of the parents/guardian, and all members of St Gerard School Community; and provide staff, parents and students with an accountable system to which they can voice their concerns, comments and suggestions to support student learning and the building of a vibrant, caring, inclusive, faith community.
The School Council's primary means of fulfilling its mission statement is by making recommendations in accordance with Regulation 612/00 to the Principal of the school and the Board that established the School Council
School Advisory Committeeor SAC- def'n (noun): a group of parents who meet on a regular basis to discuss school board updates, events, and fundraisersto further enhance our children's education.
As a member of the St. Gerard community, you are invited to attend any and all of these meetings. ALL ARE WELCOME!
